Altaaqa Global, a provider of temporary power solution, is expanding its business in Southern Africa, beginning with the opening of a new branch in Johannesburg.

Altaaqa Global strategic accounts director Majid Zahid said that mining sectors in Southern Africa along with other industries, such as oil and gas and engineering constitute a promising economic outlook for Southern Africa.

“We are delighted to open our new office in Africa to provide our wide range of highly innovative interim power plants,” said Zahid.

The new Altaaqa Global Cat Rental Power base in Johannesburg will serve as a hub for Altaaqa Global’s sales and operations in the Southern African region that  includes Botswana, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia and Malawi.

1 400 MW capacity

“Altaaqa Global and its sister company in Saudi Arabia have a total combined fleet of 1 400 MW rental power plant generation readily available to serve the Southern African region,” noted Altaaqa Global GM, Peter den Boogert.

He explained that Altaaqa Global will provide advanced power plant packaged systems, remote monitoring and fuel-efficient gas, diesel or dual-fuel-powered generators to the region.

Flagship innovation

The Altaaqa CAT Rental Power plant features a flexible operational mode that can switch from island to grid mode in a few seconds is one of Altaaqa Global’s flagship innovations.

Another feature of the Altaaqa Global energy rental package is the ability of the power plants to hook directly to the grid without the need for a substation.

Launched in 2012, Altaaqa Global has been aggressive in making inroads into the Africa market with the opening of several locations on the continent, including East Africa.
